Cary Joji Fukunaga & Abraham Attah—Beasts of No Nation, True Detective—10/15/2015

Bay Area native Cary Joji Fukunaga may have shot to prominence by directing all eight episodes of the first season of HBO's breakout series True Detective, but he had already distinguished himself as the feature director of Sin Nombre (which he also wrote) and Jane Eyre. Abraham Attah makes his screen debut as the young lead in Fukunaga's latest film, Beasts of No Nation (which had its unprecedented day-and-date premiere on Netflix and in movie theaters on October 16, 2015). We discussed the film at San Francisco's Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
